Jordan sends test flight to Damascus International Airport
A Royal Jordanian flight has successfully landed at Damascus International Airport, marking a step toward resuming air traffic to Damascus International Airport.
Captain Haitham Misto, head of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), stated that the flight was a trial run ahead of restarting the Amman-Damascus route. He emphasized that the flight symbolizes support and solidarity in reactivating Syrian air navigation.
Misto, who was aboard the flight along with a technical team from the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Royal Jordanian Airlines, and other specialists, explained that the mission aims to evaluate the technical condition of Damascus International Airport. The assessment is expected to be completed in a short period.
He added that the team stationed in Damascus would ensure the airport’s technical and logistical readiness to receive international flights. Operations will comply fully with international civil aviation safety and security standards.
