Jordan condemns maps published by official “Israeli” social media accounts
Jordan strongly condemned the publication of maps by official “Israeli” social media accounts depicting alleged "historic" borders of Israel, including parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
The incident coincided with incendiary remarks by “Israel’s” far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrch, calling for the annexation of the West Bank and the establishment of settlements in Gaza.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates spokesperson, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, reaffirmed Jordan's categorical rejection of such policies and provocative statements.
He emphasized that these actions aim to deny Palestinians their right to an independent, sovereign state along the pre-June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Qudah asserted that such measures do not undermine Jordan nor detract from the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people – according to the statement.
The statement denounced the claims and rhetoric promoted by extremists within the “Israeli” government, describing them as blatant violations of international norms and laws.
It warned that these actions perpetuate cycles of violence and conflict, calling for a clear international stance to condemn them and caution against their grave implications for regional security and stability.
Qudah demanded the “Israeli” government to immediately halt these provocative acts and statements, which serve only to provoke tensions and threaten international peace and security – the statement concluded by saying.
