Syria announces 400% salary hike for public sector employees

Reuters reported that the Syrian Minister of Finance decided to increase the salaries of many public sector employees by 400 percent as an emergency measure.

The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Maher Khalil Al-Hasan, revealed plans to increase salaries in the coming days.

Hasan suggested that this could take place before January 15 or by early February at the latest.
