"Mount Hermon peaks under Israeli control after 51 years," says Katz

'Israeli' Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the peaks of the Syrian Mount Sheikh (also known as Mount Hermon) have "returned under Israeli control." He confirmed that Israeli Occupation will remain on top of Mount Sheikh.

Katz emphasized that the peaks of Mount Sheikh have been under "Israeli control" for the first time in 51 years.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that the collapse of the Assad regime means there is no authority to enforce the disengagement agreement, which led to the creation of the buffer zone after the 1973 war.

Netanyahu added that Israeli Occupation will remain in the area until an appropriate arrangement is made.
