Jordan will host Arab and international meetings on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, to discuss the developments in Syria, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the invitation of Jordan, the foreign ministers of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria will convene in Aqaba on Saturday.

This committee, formed by a decision from the Arab League, includes representatives from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.

The meeting will also feature the foreign ministers of the UAE, Bahrain (current president of the Arab summit), and Qatar.

The Arab foreign ministers will engage in discussions with their counterparts from Turkey, the US, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union, and the UN envoy for Syria.

The agenda will focus on supporting a comprehensive political process led by the Syrian people, aimed at achieving a transitional framework in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

The goal is to fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian populace while ensuring the rebuilding of state institutions and preserving Syria's unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the rights of all its citizens.
