Ayman Safadi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met today with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

During the meeting, Safadi followed up on discussions he had with His Majesty King Abdullah II in Aqaba earlier today.

The talks centered on efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire to end the Israeli Occupation aggression in Gaza, as well as on initiatives to provide immediate and sufficient humanitarian assistance throughout the Gaza Strip. The two ministers also discussed the evolving situation in Syria.

Additionally, they addressed the bilateral relations between Jordan and the US, exploring ways to enhance cooperation on various mutual concerns.

Both officials emphasized the need for a comprehensive political transition in Syria, led by Syrians, to establish a political system that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people, respects their will, and ensures their rights. They underscored the importance of laying a foundation for a future characterized by security and stability.

Safadi and Blinken highlighted the necessity of respecting Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while also reinforcing efforts to combat terrorism.

Safadi stressed that Syria's security and stability are crucial for regional security, which calls for collaborative efforts to support an inclusive political transition in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

He reiterated the importance of helping the Syrian people achieve their aspirations for a political system that respects the rights of all citizens, restores Syria’s stability as a secure and sovereign state free from terrorism, and prepares for the voluntary return of refugees.

Safadi condemned "Israel's" occupation of Syrian territories and called for "Israel" to withdraw immediately, reaffirming the need to respect Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
