Syrian army says redeployed forces outside Hama city
The Syrian Army has released a statement addressing the ongoing battles in the city of Hama.
"Over the past days, our armed forces have engaged in fierce battles to repel and thwart the violent, successive attacks launched by terrorist groups on the city of Hama from multiple directions," the statement read.
"These groups have employed substantial manpower, military equipment, and infiltration units."
The statement continued, "In the past hours, as confrontations intensified between our forces and the terrorist groups, and with the rise in the number of martyrs among our troops, these groups managed to breach several fronts and enter parts of the city, despite suffering significant losses."
To safeguard the lives of Hama’s civilian population and prevent urban combat within the city, army units stationed in the area have conducted a strategic repositioning outside its borders, the statement noted.
The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces reaffirmed its commitment to its national duty, vowing to reclaim all areas that had been entered by the terrorist groups – the statement concluded.
