An Amman magistrate court has sentenced a man in his fifties, working as a plumber, to three years in prison for throwing paint at schoolgirls as they left their schools in the capital.

The court found the defendant guilty of "displaying force, violence, or threats," under Article 415/1/B. Multiple complaints had been filed by residents of central Amman, accusing the man of threats, assaults on pedestrians, and extortion attempts.

The court revealed that the man, a repeat offender, had a criminal record including various offenses against public decency, disturbing the peace, and damaging property. Evidence, including videos captured by citizens, documented his attacks on schoolgirls.

The court emphasized that paint is a harmful substance that can pose risks to health and the environment. The police referred the defendant to court in November.
