Thunderstorms, rainfall expected as weather instability looms
Temperatures on Friday will remain around or slightly below seasonal averages, with mild weather prevailing across most regions. Winds are expected to be moderate easterlies, occasionally gusty, and may stir up dust in some areas.
The eastern desert region will experience renewed weather instability by Friday afternoon and evening, with clouds forming at various altitudes and bringing scattered thunderstorms, primarily affecting northern Mafraq and along the border areas, as well as the Ruwayshid and Safawi areas.
Rainfall is expected to vary in intensity, with heavy downpours possible in some localized areas, potentially leading to flash flooding. Thunderstorm clouds passing through may also bring strong surface winds, and isolated thunderstorms could extend to other parts of the kingdom, including the northern regions, but likely in limited areas.
By Friday night, unstable weather conditions are expected to subside, though chances of isolated rain showers will persist in scattered areas. Conditions will turn relatively cool with light easterly winds, gusting in some western regions.
Unstable weather will continue to impact Jordan on Saturday, primarily in northern areas, with a chance of extending to some southern regions – per ArabiaWeather’s forecasts.
ArabiaWeather advises residents of tented areas and livestock herders to be cautious of potential flash flooding in the eastern desert areas, avoid wadi paths, and be mindful of possible temporary dust storms accompanying the thunderstorms.
