Industrial Producer Price Index drops 0.3% year-to-date in Jordan
The industrial Producer Price Index (PPI) declined by 0.3 percent from the beginning of this year through the end of September, reaching 107.40 points compared to 107.72 points for the same period last year.
According to a monthly report from the Department of Statistics released Thursday, this decrease was driven by a 0.43 percent drop in manufacturing prices and a 2.79 percent decrease in extractive industry prices, despite a 4.06 percent rise in electricity prices.
For the month of September, the industrial (PPI) fell by 0.43 percent, registering 107.5 points compared to 107.96 points in September of the previous year.
On a product level, the September 2024 index decline compared to September 2023 was influenced by a 1.03 percent drop in manufacturing prices, while extractive industry prices rose by 7.94 percent and electricity prices increased by 1.39 percent.
The report also showed a 0.12 percent monthly rise in the industrial producer price index for September 2024, reaching 107.5 points, up from 107.37 points in August of the same year.
On a month-over-month basis, September 2024’s increase was driven by an 11.02 percent rise in extractive industry prices, while manufacturing prices fell by 0.48 percent and electricity prices dipped by 0.17 percent.
