Authorities issue statement on minor riots in Al-Wehdat

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) in Amman responded to a minor riot in the Al-Wehdat area on Sunday during a joint campaign aimed at clearing illegal street vendors and encroachments on public roads. 

According to a statement from the Directorate’s spokesperson, a coordinated effort between various authorities and the police was launched to remove vendors and illegal structures that had been obstructing public roads in the area. Vendors had been previously warned multiple times and given several deadlines to comply with regulations.

During the removal process, a small group of individuals began to protest and instigate disturbances. Security forces swiftly intervened, using appropriate force to restore order and detain six individuals responsible for the disruption.
