Civil defense rescues family from house fire

Teams from the East Irbid Civil Defense Directorate successfully rescued an entire family in a critical firefighting and rescue operation after their home caught fire in the Beit Ras area of Irbid Governorate. The family had been at risk of suffocation due to the heavy smoke – a statement by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said.

Lieutenant Colonel Talal Al-Tahat, head of the Industrial City Civil Defense Center, told Public Security Radio that the fire was reported on Monday afternoon in an apartment on the fourth floor of a building housing the family.

Upon arrival, the Civil Defense teams found the family had retreated to the windows to escape the dense smoke.

Al-Tahat added that firefighting and rescue teams managed to enter the apartment and evacuate the family using fire-resistant equipment, providing them with oxygen. Six family members were in moderate condition, while three children had lost consciousness and suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest.

Paramedics Israa Bani Hani and Lamees Malkawi, who participated in the rescue efforts, explained that the three children had no pulse or breathing due to smoke inhalation. The medical team successfully restored their vital signs before they were transferred to Yarmouk Hospital.

The children's grandfather expressed his deep gratitude to the Civil Defense personnel for their swift response and professionalism in handling the situation, noting that the family is now in good health, except for one child who remains under medical observation.
