“Israeli” police announced a state of high alert in Jerusalem, deploying additional forces and border guard units in anticipation of heightened tensions during Yom Kippur – from October 10 to 12.

Late Thursday evening, police will close the road leading to the Buraq Wall from Al-Juthmaniya Street due to expected incursions by tens of thousands of “Israeli” settlers who will attend the final holiday prayer known as "Ne'ila" at the site.

Authorities will also close all western access points around the walls of Jerusalem, along with some neighborhoods in the Old City, and set up security checkpoints.

As Yom Kippur begins Friday afternoon, police will restrict movement on various roads and streets, permitting traffic only for Jerusalem residents on three designated routes: from northern Beit Hanina through Shufat and Wadi al-Joz to the Damascus Gate; the Old Jericho Road/Ras al-Amoud to Al-Tur; and the road from Sur Baher toward Jabal Mukaber and Silwan, passing through the Old Jericho Road.

Additionally, the Beitunia, Rachel’s Tomb, and the circular Metsoida checkpoints will be closed, allowing entry only for humanitarian cases via the Hizma checkpoint.

All Palestinian neighborhoods where settlements have been established, from Umm Tuba in the south to Kafr Aqab in the north, will be closed until the end of the holiday on Saturday evening.
