Hashem Safieddine, touted as the next leader of Hezbollah after Hassan Nasrallah's killing.
“Israel” says Safieddine, possible successor of Nasrallah, likely killed in Beirut airstrike
“Israeli” Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said Tuesday that senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine, who is projected to assume Nasrallah’s role as the group’s Secretary-General, had been killed in the airstrike on Beirut last week.
“Hezbollah is an organization without a leader, Nasrallah was eliminated, his replacement was probably also eliminated. This has a dramatic effect on everything that happens. There is no one to make decisions, no one to act,” Gallant said.
He further claimed that Hezbollah had been "battered and broken" following continuous strikes against the group and the assassination of its leader Hassan Nasrallah.
During a briefing with the northern command, Gallant added that Hezbollah "is a battered and broken organization, without significant command and fire capabilities, with a disintegrated leadership following the elimination of Hassan Nasrallah".
