Jordan backs UN chief Guterres amid 'Israeli' smear campaign

Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed on Thursday its full support for UN Secretary-General António Guterres in the face of smear campaigns by the Israeli Occupation government aimed at discrediting him and his role in upholding the UN Charter and safeguarding international peace and security.

Spokesperson for the Ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Qudah, emphasized the importance of the international community rejecting any disrespect directed at the UN Secretary-General and holding Israeli Occupation accountable for adhering to the UN Charter, international law, and international humanitarian law.

Qudah condemned any attempts to undermine the role of the United Nations and its affiliated bodies. He also praised Guterres' commitment to international law and the UN Charter, which aim to ensure respect for law and promote peace and stability, especially in the region.
