Army chief says Jordan ready to “execute any defensive mission”

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), Major General Yousef Huneiti, said today that the Jordan Armed Forces are continuously upgrading their defensive and security capabilities by utilizing all available resources, modernizing equipment and weapons, and conducting ongoing, effective training.

These efforts aim to enhance the skills and readiness of the military personnel to safeguard the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – a JAF statement said.

This statement was made during Huneiti’s visit on Sunday to the front line of the 9th Royal Border Guard Battalion, part of the Northern Military Region, where he was received by the regional commander.

During the visit, Major General Huneiti was briefed on the operational, training, and logistical status of the units and formations in the region, with a particular focus on the role of the 2nd Border Guard Brigade in securing the borders within its area of responsibility, preventing infiltration and smuggling activities.

In a related visit, Huneiti toured the front lines of the 8th Royal Border Guard Battalion, part of the Southern Military Region, where he was similarly welcomed by the regional commander.

He received detailed briefings from the respective commanders regarding the tasks and duties assigned to their units, all aimed at maintaining high levels of efficiency and readiness.

During both visits, the Chairman emphasized the importance of leveraging military and technological capabilities to confront current threats. He stressed the necessity of deploying a variety of weapons systems to support the mission of the Jordan Armed Forces.

Major General Huneiti toured both Border Guard Battalions’ posts, expressing his admiration for the high level of professionalism and the vital role played by the Border Guard in defending the nation’s security with competence and determination.

Accompanied by senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces, Huneiti met with the battalion personnel, conveying the greetings and pride of His Majesty the Supreme Commander.

He commended the significant efforts made by the Jordanian Armed Forces personnel across all regions and praised the high morale of troops in the northern and southern military areas. He emphasized the need for unwavering dedication in protecting the country and its resources, urging unity against anyone who may threaten Jordan’s security and stability.
