Ireland recognizes Palestinian state, Spain to follow on May 28

Spain and Ireland have joined Norway in the latest line of European countries to officially recognize the state of Palestine; Ireland’s Prime Minister said his country recognizes Palestine as of today, while Spain and Norway will do so on May 28.

Ireland’s Prime Minister Simon Harris, said that "recognition is an act of powerful political and symbolic value" at the press conference.

Spain will recognise Palestine as a state on May 28, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Wednesday in the Spanish parliament.

"Next Tuesday, May 28, Spain's cabinet will approve the recognition of the Palestinian state," he said, adding that his “Israeli” counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu was putting the two state solution in "danger" with his policy of "pain and destruction" in the Gaza Strip.
