The Palestinian Minister of Communications, Ishaq Sider, has urged Egypt to expedite the activation of telecommunication stations near the border of the Gaza Strip and to enable roaming services.

Sider stated Wednesday, "Currently, we have no option but to rely on Egypt for communication in the Gaza Strip, given the critical situation that cannot afford a loss of communication."

All communication and internet services were severed in the Gaza Strip, as announced by the Palestinian Telecommunications Company, early Wednesday.

The company stated in its release that the disruption was caused by the exposure of international routes, which had previously been reconnected, to another disconnection.
