Monday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Jordan sent 26 trucks loaded with relief materials to Syria, in reponse to the quake that struck on Feb. 6.

According to the ICRC's statement, the aid includes personal care items, kitchen utensils, blankets, tarps and gallons to cover the needs of 10,000 families in Syria.

Notably, the ICRC had previously sent two trucks of medical and relief materials to Syria, including 20 medical units sufficient to treat 1,000 people and 1,500 bags to preserve the remains of victims.

It also sent 11 field hospitals to Turkey from Aqaba last Saturday.

The ICRC deployed teams, including forensic medicine specialists, to Aleppo, Tartous and Latakia, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.

According to their figures, more than 30,000 people affected by the earthquake in Aleppo, Latakia and Hama received supplies including 3,500 food parcels, blankets, mattresses as well as other hygiene and medical supplies.

It also donated surgical and medical supplies, medicines and equipment to six hospitals in Aleppo, Lattakia and Hama.

Additionally, it supported the mobile health units of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in providing basic health services/first aid in the same three cities.

The statement said that the aforementioned health response efforts catered to more than 16,300 people.

The ICRC rehabilitated 24 collective shelters that hosted earthquake-affected families in Aleppo.

It also delivered water by truck to six shelters in Aleppo for 10 days, and distributed about 115,000 water bottles in Aleppo, Lattakia and Hama.
