The death toll in the collapse of a building in Al-Weibdeh in Amman rose to five Tuesday after authorities pulled out another three bodies from under the rubble.

Among those who were just pronounced dead is an eight-year-old girl, according to eyewitnesses.

Earlier, the Director of the National Center for Forensic Medicine Department Raed Al-Momani said that the center had received two bodies following the collapse of a residential building in Al-Weibdeh area in Amman, involving a 19-year-old woman and a migrant worker.

Amman’s Public Prosecutor issued an order to conduct an autopsy on the two bodies tomorrow, Wednesday, Momani added.

As of 10:35pm Tuesday, five people were pronounced dead and at least 15 others were injured after a building collapsed in Al-Weibdeh area in Amman.

Police still do not have precise information regarding the number of people who are still under the rubble of the collapsed building in Al-Weibdeh in Amman, according to the Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesperson, Faisal Al-Shboul.

Shboul told Roya Tuesday that the main priority now is to rescue those who are still under the rubble, pointing out that the nature of the site is rugged and uneven.

He also called for people not to pay mind to the rumors that are currently being spread on social media.

Following the incident, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh directed the competent authorities to open an investigation to determine the causes of the collapse of the building.

This is a developing story.
