Ireland’s Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth visits Jordan
Ireland’s Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Roderick O’Gorman, visited Zaatari Camp Sunday, and met with Jordanian and UN officials, the meeting, attended by Ireland’s Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Vincent O’Neill and the accompanying delegation, included a briefing about the Green projects provided at the camp, including solar power, waste management and recycling projects provided for refugee communities.
On a two-day visit to Jordan, the Minister also visited the UNHCR Refugee Registration Centre in Amman and received an overview of the centre’s work and met with IRRP officials and a refugee family to be resettled in Ireland.
Earlier Sunday, the minister met with H.E Mr. Ayman Al Mufleh, Minister of Social Development, and discussed areas of bilateral cooperation. The minister also met with H.E Mr. Nasser Shraideh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and discussed bilateral ties and ways to improve them.
He later launched the “Green Embassy Initiative” at the Irish Chancery, and planted a tree to commemorate the occasion.
