Thursday, at least four people were killed and 159 others were missing after a 12-storey residential building collapsed in Miami, according to officials.

Search and rescue teams have been working around the clock and have reported hearing people banging beneath the debris. Dozens of people have been evacuated.

The cause of the collapse remains unclear.

Following the incident, US President Joe Biden has approved an emergency declaration for Florida, which means the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will help state agencies with the relief effort.

Investigations are currently underway.
