The official Palestinian News Agency "Wafa" reported that President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday congratulated Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on his election to a new presidential term.

In a congratulatory cable, Abbas expressed his pride in the brotherly relations and mutual respect that unite the two peoples and countries, and his keenness to strengthen them, for their good and their common interest.
