The body of the Jordanian boxer Rashid Sweissat has been laid to rest Thursday. Sweissat died Monday evening from a punch in his third round during his participation in the World Youth Boxing Championships in Poland, according to the Boxing Federation.

Sweissat was transferred to a hospital and underwent emergency surgery prior to his death.

The family of Sweissat demanded the formation of a special committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding their son's death during the World Youth Boxing Championship.

Sweissat's uncle told Roya that it is unreasonable for players not to be examined to ensure their safety before international events. It is also unreasonable to only spend a few days preparing for a world championship, he added.
