He began the conferences by saying that the government bears responsibility for the Salt incident.

He noted that the death of a single Jordanian due to negligence is unacceptable and unjustifiable.

It pains us that the Jordanian people's confidence in the efficiency of the public administration has faltered, said the PM.

"This required taking serious and immediate measures to assume political and moral responsibility in this regard."

This is a sad day for the country, said Khasawneh, while offering condolences to the families of all those who died as a result of the tragedy.

"We will not try to justify or belittle what happened."

Khasawneh noted that His Majesty the King is angered by the deaths of those so close to the nation.

The government has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Health, Nathir Obeidat, and the Director of the Al-Hussein New Salt Hospital, Abdelrazaq Al-Khashman, said Khasawneh, following requests from His Majesty earlier Saturday, for them to resign.

Notably, the Balqa Health Affairs Director has been suspended pending investigations.

Earlier Saturday, Khasawneh ordered an immediate and 'transparent' investigation to determine the cause of the incident, after which, the Parliament followed suit, and will hold an emergency session Sunday to discuss the matter.

The government has also instructed the Ministry of Health, and all other health institutions to declare a state of emergency to ensure that the correct protocols are in place to protect the livelihood of all citizens and residents.
