Parliament to hold emergency session Sunday to determine cause of incident at Salt hospital

Saturday, the Speaker of Parliament, Abdel Moneim Al-Awdat, called on the Parliament to hold an emergency session Sunday, to determine the causes of the incident which took place at the Al-Hussein New Salt Hospital, which left six dead after oxygen supplies were cut off from those in intensive care.

Al-Awdat expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, pointing out that in such difficult times all institutions are supposed to deal in a way that cannot tolerate negligence and error, especially when it comes to basic necessities such as oxygen.

He added that he is in constant contact with the representatives of Balqa Governorate, to follow up the incident from all aspects, pointing out that the Parliamentary Health Committee were invited to an emergency meeting Saturday.

He said that the House of Representatives will follow up all the details related to that catastrophe with the government at the session that the Parliament will hold Sunday, stressing that no complaceny will be shown and those who are proven to be negligent will be held accountable.
