The government set fixed prices for fresh produce Tuesday following a huge increase in prices of fruits and vegetables ahead of the post-elections lockdown, announced the Minister of Trade, Industry and Supply Maha Ali.

The price of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis and potatoes has been set at JD 0.6 per kilogram and eggplants at JD 0.5 per kilogram, as of Tuesday. The decision and prices will be reconsidered based on the many contributing factors that are currently affecting the fresh produce market.

The ministry announced that supervision efforts will be strengthened to ensure compliance with the fixed prices and to take legal action against those who do not comply.
