The Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) will not be reopened before July 1, the Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, confirmed on Wednesday, May 27.
In press statements to Al Jazeera, Jaber said "for every issue, there are committees that study the mechanisms of future work in light of the pandemic and the number of coronavirus cases."
"One of the committees is studying when and how to reopen the QAIA," the Minister explained.
Jaber stated, "Jordan has sacrificed a lot due to the citizens' high commitment."
He pointed out that Jordan has not lost health cadres and the death and case rate are very low.
"After the long period of lockdown, I will be concerned about people's failure to comply with the health rules."
During the previous days, the QAIA has received a number of flights that carried Jordanian students returning from abroad.
