577 Jordanian students stranded abroad arrived in Amman on Tuesday

Three planes arrived on Tuesday, May 5, at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), carrying Jordanian students and those stranded from the countries that were affected by the coronavirus.

"The first plane, which arrived from Cairo, carried 158 passengers, while the second plane, also coming from Cairo, carried 159 passengers, and the third one from Istanbul was carrying 260 passengers," Airport Security and Protection Director, Brigadier General Khaled Al-Shanteer said, noting that the returnees will be transported by bus to the quarantine sites, respectively.

He added that all passengers were subjected to preliminary tests before entering, and any returning person who suffers symptoms of the disease will be transferred to the hospital immediately, stressing that no infections have been recorded among the returnees until now.

He indicated that the number of returnees to the Kingdom is expected to reach 3, 200 on Friday, noting that the QAIA will receive two planes today, and 8 other planes on Thursday, in addition to two planes on Friday.

He added that the competent medical teams received the returnees upon their arrival at the airport by conducting medical and preventive tests for each one of them, sterilizing them and their personal luggage. Then entry procedures and passports stamping were completed in another hall equipped for this purpose.

He announced the start of the process of distributing returnees on buses designated to transport them to quarantine sites that had been prepared in advance with various means of service and comfort.
