Authorities have deployed today epidemiological investigation teams in the northern border town of Ramtha to identify and test the contacts of a doctor, who has recently arrived in Jordan through Greece and tested positive for COVID-19, according to a top health official.

Wael Hayajneh, the official overseeing the COVID-19 crisis in the northern governorates, said five people who have come into contact with the doctor, might have contracted the disease, saying identification and testing of contacts are underway.

Speaking on anti-COVID-19 efforts in the northern region, Hayajneh indicated that 20 epidemiological investigation teams have been scouring the northern governorates to track any infections, list contacts and test suspected cases.

Hayajneh said the teams might collect 250 samples from individuals suspected of infection. He urged citizens to abide by Friday's 24-lockdown, underlining the importance of this measure for the efforts to continue to flatten the COVID-19 curve.
