The newly appointed spokesman for coronavirus in Jordan, Nathir Obaidat, said that no new corona cases are reported in the Kingdom.

In a phone call with Roya, Obaidat said that a number of people were suspected of having the virus. However, they all tested negative.

"The infected citizen and his friend, who arrived from Italy, are currently quarantined at Prince Hamza Hospital," Obaidat stated, adding that they will undergo more than one laboratory test.

"The Ministry has received a number of complaints regarding hygiene in the isolation rooms of Al-Bashir Hospital and will take the necessary measures to investigate such complaints."

"The infected citizen, Mohammad Hyari, has complained that there are cockroaches inside the isolation rooms and an investigation into the complaint will be launched," he said.

He confirmed that more thermal scanners will be installed at the airports and the Kingdom's border crossings.

Obaidat explained that a person may be infected with the virus without having fever.

"The security services should prevent non-Jordanians from entering the Kingdom to limit the spread of the virus in the country, and with regard to Jordanians coming from abroad, they should be quarantined even if they don't have the virus."

Regarding the testing kits used to examine the infected citizens, Obaidat said that they cannot be used at border crossings and should be used only in central laboratories. "We cannot test everyone with testing kits because of their high cost."

He said that the Ministry has activated a hotline for citizens who have inquiries related to the virus.
