President Donald Trump has now approved the execution. The Army says it will take place by firing squad at Fort Hood, the same base where the attack happened. If carried out, it would be the first US military execution since 1961.

A solidarity gathering for Palestine and civilians in Gaza was held at Checkpoint Charlie in central Berlin, three years into the war.
