Footage released by Yemen’s Houthis shows what the group says is a Saudi airstrike targeting a local market in a village near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

The Houthis control strategic coastal areas overlooking the waterway after seizing territory from Saudi-backed government forces. The footage and the claim of a Saudi airstrike have not been independently verified.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across France to protest a proposed law that would introduce a presumption that police and gendarmes acted lawfully when using their firearms. The proposal, approved by French lawmakers on July 7, would mean that officers are presumed to have acted within the law when using their weapons, although that presumption could be challenged with evidence to the contrary.

Protesters have described the measure as a potential “license to kill” and are calling for the proposal to be blocked before it reaches debate in the French Senate.

The demonstrations were backed by organizations including Amnesty International and the Human Rights League, as well as left-wing groups and a judges’ union.

In Paris, police estimated that around 21,000 people joined the march.

Left-wing leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is running for the 2027 presidential election, was also seen among the protesters as the crowd chanted slogans opposing the police.

A Russian Pantsir air-defense system has reportedly been deployed in a combat position above a busy highway in Moscow, near the Moscow Oil Refinery.

The system’s radar was active, according to the footage and accompanying account.

Attacks on Christian sites in ‘Israel’ have drawn growing scrutiny in recent years. The Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue, a Jerusalem-based interreligious group, recorded 111 attacks or acts of violence against Christians in 2024, 35 of which involved vandalism of churches, monasteries and public religious signs, with the perpetrators identified in nearly all cases being young ultra-Orthodox Jews from religious-nationalist extremist circles. 

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced plans to ban burqas and niqabs in schools and introduce a legal limit on the number of foreign students in each class.

Meloni also said the government plans to require Italian-language lessons for parents of foreign students facing serious integration difficulties.

The proposals still need to go through Italy’s legislative process before becoming law.

'Israeli' National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has called for the death penalty for the suspected gunman arrested after a fatal shooting near Neve Tzuf in the occupied West Bank.

The suspect was arrested at a hospital in the Ramallah area following a manhunt, according to 'Israeli' authorities.

The call comes after 'Israel’s' parliament approved legislation in March 2026 allowing the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of certain deadly terror attacks, a measure that has faced legal challenges and criticism over its discriminatory implications.
