Patients have been evacuated from the MV Hondius off the coast of Cape Verde and transferred to air ambulances in the capital, Praia, following a hantavirus outbreak onboard.
The cruise ship, at the centre of the outbreak, is expected to continue its journey and dock within three days at Granadilla on the island of Tenerife, according to Spain’s health minister.
The evacuation involved three suspected cases, who were transported from the vessel by ambulance boat before being transferred for medical care.
