  • The viral video highlights the hardship and struggle to obtain basic necessities facing Palestinians in the enclave.

A 77-year-old former educator who spent decades teaching generations of students was filmed on Wednesday waiting in line for food at a charitable kitchen in Gaza, offering a glimpse into the humanitarian hardship confronting the enclave's population.

Abdullah Ayoub holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Egypt and dedicated much of his life to education, and has lost multiple famiy members during the 'Israeli' assault.

The footage comes as Gaza continues to grapple with a deepening food crisis, with hundreds of thousands of Palestinians facing acute food insecurity and humanitarian aid falling short of growing needs.

According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), 1.4 million Palestinians, or 67% of Gaza's population, are projected to face crisis-level food insecurity or worse through December 2026, including approximately 212,000 people facing emergency conditions.

The World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Oct. 19 that funding shortages had forced it to reduce the number of people receiving food assistance from 1.6 million to 1.1 million, while cutting food rations by half and reducing daily hot meal distributions from 250,000 to 150,000.
