  • Moscow describes reports of a possible new US attack on Iran as “extremely alarming” and warns against further military escalation.
  • Russia calls for renewed diplomatic efforts and an end to the US naval blockade of Iran, urging a swift return to normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Russia has expressed concern over reports of possible renewed US military action against Iran, describing signs of a new attack as “extremely alarming.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Moscow hopes for a diplomatic resolution to the tensions and a swift return to normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The tragic experience of recent months demonstrates that military adventures, sowing death and destruction in Iran, are powerless to break the Iranian people’s will to defend their country’s sovereignty and independence. Those threatening new attacks today should consider this,” Zakharova said.

Zakharova stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts and support mediators working to advance the peace process.

She said Russia was prepared to contribute to reaching mutually acceptable solutions and ensuring their implementation.

Moscow also called for restoring normal maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the interests of both countries bordering the waterway and those relying on it for safe and uninterrupted international shipping.

“We hope for a swift return to normalcy in the Strait of Hormuz,” Zakharova said.

She also condemned the US naval blockade of Iran, describing it as illegal and arguing that Tehran's interests must be taken into account in any efforts to resolve the crisis.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy corridors, carrying a significant share of global oil shipments. Any disruption to navigation through the waterway carries implications for international energy supplies and global markets.
