The public relations department of the Iranian Army's Navy claimed that an oil tanker caught fire following an incident involving a naval mine east of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to statements by the Iranian military, the tanker was allegedly navigating through a "prohibited and unsafe" maritime corridor at the time of the incident, with its navigation and tracking systems intentionally deactivated.

The Iranian Navy further alleged that tanker owners should draw lessons from what it described as non-compliant vessels attempting to transit restricted areas with disabled identification systems.

Navy officials claimed that unauthorized movements in high-risk zones run the direct consequence of striking naval mines and suffering severe onboard fires.
