- Adele Shoko says she, Jasper Nathaniel and Andrey Khrzhanovskiy were assaulted by ‘Israeli’ settlers in the occupied West Bank.
- Shoko alleges Khrzhanovskiy repeatedly lost consciousness but was taken to a police station instead of a hospital.
- Nathaniel was allegedly beaten, pepper-sprayed and arrested, while Shoko also reported being assaulted.
Journalist Adele Shoko said she and two other journalists and activists were assaulted by ‘Israeli’ settlers in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, adding that Andrey was repeatedly knocked unconscious and denied hospital treatment.
In a statement posted on social media, Shoko said she, journalist Jasper Nathaniel and Andrey Khrzhanovskiy were attacked in an incident recorded on video.
Shoko said Andray was severely beaten and lost consciousness several times in front of police officers. She alleged that although he was placed in an ambulance, he was taken to a police station instead of a hospital and remained under arrest without receiving medical care.
She added that she and Nathaniel were also beaten and that Nathaniel was pepper-sprayed and arrested.
The incident comes amid heightened settler violence in the occupied West Bank during the annual olive harvest. On Oct. 17, Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine was seriously injured in a settler attack while covering Palestinian olive farmers in Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah. The Washington Post subsequently documented the assault through eyewitness accounts and video footage.
