  • Jordan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Walid Obeidat, called for consolidating the Gaza ceasefire plan in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
  • Amman urged the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and continued support for UNRWA.
  • Jordan called for an immediate halt to what it described as unlawful unilateral measures in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, highlighting settlement expansion plans under the E1 project.

Jordan has reiterated its call for the consolidation of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, urging that the plan be implemented faithfully in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

Speaking before the Security Council during its deliberations on the Palestinian question and the situation on the ground, Jordan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Walid Obeidat, emphasized on Thursday, that humanitarian and relief assistance must reach Gaza unimpeded and free of restrictions. He further stressed the imperative of lending full support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), so that it may continue to provide vital services to those who depend upon them.

The Jordanian envoy also demanded an immediate end to illegal unilateral measures in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank. He pointed to ‘Israeli’ settlement expansion plans tied to the E1 project as a particular source of concern.

Obeidat cautioned that bringing such measures to a halt is indispensable to safeguarding the prospects of a two-state solution and securing a just and lasting peace.
