A newly published picture showing two-and-a-half-year-old Mariam receiving treatment for burn injuries and facial trauma has provided a critical update following an 'Israeli' airstrike on a residential apartment west of Gaza.
The update comes after the toddler was rescued from an early-morning fire that engulfed her family's residence. Her mother, 33-year-old Reem Awad, was killed in the blaze created by the strike.
Field journalist Ali al-Jaafrawi, who documented the rescue attempt on-site, described arriving to find the apartment heavily filled with smoke and flames, with Mariam trapped inside. After initial attempts to enter were blocked by intense heat and smoke, rescuers managed to reach the toddler and pull her to safety.

While Mariam survived the initial attack, updated image disclosures confirm she sustained physical injuries requiring ongoing medical care, as public attention continues to focus on the human impact of targeted residential strikes across the territory.
