  • Due to heightened risks and tightened controls, financial intermediaries charged a 20% commission fee.
  • Displaced households are set to receive an initial payment of $3,000 each.

Hezbollah has reportedly received $200 million in cash from Iran to assist Lebanese citizens displaced during this year's war with ‘Israel’, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the transaction, Reuters reported.

This transaction allegedly marks the first substantial financial assistance provided by the organization to its base of supporters.

The funds were transferred last month despite the US economic pressure campaign against Iran and “increasing difficulties" in delivering funds from Tehran to Hezbollah, the two sources have said.

High risks surrounding the transfer forced intermediaries to charge a 20% commission, quadruple the standard rate, to move the funds.

While a Hezbollah representative stated that financial backing had been secured and a disbursement schedule would be released shortly, the official withheld details regarding the origin of the money, Reuters further detailed.

One of the sources said that the incoming funds are targeted to support approximately 50,000 families with initial payments of $3,000 each.

Distribution will prioritize households whose home villages were destroyed or remain out of reach due to ‘Israeli’ military presence.

The two sources did not provide details on how they delivered the money to Lebanon.

They added that the opponents view money as the group's "oxygen." However, despite these heightening transfer obstacles, Hezbollah “had not stopped paying its fighters and the family members of those killed in combat.”
