  • He sustained critical injuries in the strike and was later transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital.
  • Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal confirmed Tammous’ death, according to Al Jazeera.

Mohammad Tammous, a Palestinian volunteer with Gaza’s Civil Defense, was killed Wednesday after being wounded in an ‘Israeli’ airstrike near Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, Palestinian officials said.

Tammous was traveling to the area to evacuate Palestinians wounded in an earlier attack when the vicinity of the hospital was struck again, according to Palestinian reports.

He later died of his wounds after being transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital, Mahmoud Basal, a spokesman for Gaza’s Civil Defense, said.

The scenario shows once again the dangers facing rescue workers in northern Gaza, where emergency crews have continued responding to strikes and attempting to reach people trapped or injured amid ongoing military operations.

Tammous had volunteered with Gaza’s Civil Defense since 2023, participating in rescue missions, recovering people from beneath collapsed buildings, administering first aid and helping extinguish fires, according to Palestinian reports.

His death came as ‘Israeli’ strikes continued across parts of the Gaza Strip despite a cease-fire agreement that took effect in October 2025.

Palestinian Civil Defense officials described Tammous as a volunteer who had spent years helping people affected by the war. His death adds another name to the long list of emergency workers killed while responding to casualties in Gaza.
