- The appearance came weeks after stadium owner Robert Kraft confirmed he had barred Macklemore from performing at Gillette following the rapper’s pro-Palestinian remarks.
- Bryan is scheduled to perform a second show at the stadium on Saturday.
US country singer Zach Bryan wore a “Free Palestine” shirt onstage at Gillette Stadium on Friday night, bringing a visible pro-Palestinian message to the venue owned by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
Bryan was performing the first of two scheduled shows at the Foxborough, Massachusetts, stadium as part of his “With Heaven On Tour.” Members of his band also wore Palestine-related clothing. His drummer was seen wearing a jersey with “Palestine” on the front and “Hind Rajab” on the back, according to footage from the concert and reporting by Soundvenue.
The appearance came weeks after Kraft confirmed that Macklemore would not be allowed to perform at Gillette Stadium as an opening act for Ed Sheeran.
Kraft said the decision was based on Macklemore’s “recent actions” and material shown during Sheeran’s shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Macklemore had expressed support for Palestinians, called for a “Free Palestine” and performed his protest song “Hind’s Hall” during the shows.
Bryan is scheduled to return to Gillette Stadium on Saturday for the second night of his two-show run. The venue's official schedule lists the concert for Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
