UK PM to hold emergency talks on airbase bomb plot as five released on bail

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Monday he would chair an emergency government meeting after five men were arrested over a suspected bomb plot at a British airbase used by the United States.
Speaking during a phone-in on LBC radio, Burnham said he would chair a COBRA meeting later Monday to ensure the government had "the full picture" of the situation.
"I will chair a meeting of Cobra later this afternoon, just to make sure we have the full picture, the full situation, very clearly in our sights".
COBRA meetings bring together ministers, police and intelligence officials to coordinate the government's response to emergencies.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of UK Counter Terrorism Policing, said the five men arrested in connection with the suspected plot would be released on police bail.
"Following extensive interviews and inquiries, the five men who were arrested are being released on police bail this afternoon," Taylor told reporters.
"To be very clear, this does not mean that the investigation is over. They are subject to stringent conditions on their movement and contact with others," he added.
