Dozens of delegates walked out of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday as ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began his address, in a protest encouraged by the Palestinian Mission to the world body.
The walkout emptied large sections of the chamber as Netanyahu took the podium. Reuters reported that delegates streamed out as he began speaking, while supporters in the gallery chanted in Hebrew in support of him.
Reports and photographs from the chamber, however, identified numerous delegations whose seats were empty during the speech.
