The United Kingdom strongly condemned the ‘Israeli’ government’s decision to publish tenders for the construction of settlements in the E1 area Wednesday, summoning the ‘Israeli’ Chargé d’Affaires in London to express formal diplomatic protest.

In an official statement, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) called on ‘Israeli’ authorities to immediately halt the tendering process.

British officials emphasized that the expansion of settlements violates international law, undermines peace efforts, and threatens the viability of a future two-state solution.

The diplomatic rebuke highlights growing international concern over 'Israeli' measures in the occupied West Bank, with London reiterating its position that settlement expansion poses a direct obstacle to regional stability.

The 'Israeli' Ministry of Construction and Housing published a tender for about 1,200 housing units within the E1 master plan. This step shifts the project from long-standing planning stages into developer bidding and construction preparation, as part of a broader scheme to build 3,401 housing units in the area.

For decades, global diplomats have warned that construction in E1 would deal a critical blow to the feasibility of a contiguous, independent Palestinian state, as development in this area would isolate East Jerusalem from Palestinian territory in the West Bank.
