The Palestinian Presidency on Wednesday denied Hebrew media reports claiming that Palestinian officials were working to bring down the government of ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

An official source in the Presidency, quoted by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, rejected assertions by an ‘Israeli’ journalist that Palestinian officials had informed him of efforts aimed at toppling Netanyahu’s coalition.

The source described the reports as inaccurate and inconsistent with Palestinian policy.

“The Palestinian position is firm: non-interference in the internal affairs of any party, including Israel,” the source said.

“The Palestinian side has always dealt with any elected government, which is the same principle we ask all parties to adhere to in their dealings with us.”

The Presidency stressed that Palestinian priorities remain unchanged and focused on the core issues of the conflict.

It reiterated that the consistent demand directed at ‘Israel’ is an end to the occupation of Palestinian territory and the achievement of peace grounded in international law and United Nations resolutions.

The denial comes amid ongoing regional tensions and continued ‘Israeli’ policies in the occupied territories.
