  • British jury fails to convict eight Palestine Action activists over Elbit protest.
  • Jury discharged after no verdict in Filton action targeting 'Israeli' arms maker.
  • Eight activists avoid convictions as prosecutors consider possible retrial.

A British jury on Wednesday failed to reach a verdict for eight Palestine Action activists accused of facilitating direct action targeting an Elbit Systems facility, an ‘Israeli’ arms manufacturer, in Filton, near Bristol.

The judge subsequently discharged the jury after it returned no convictions against the group.

The defendants: Madeleine Norman, Hannah Davidson, Teuta Hoxha, Aleksandra Herbich, Ian Sanders, William Plastow, Julia Brigadirova, and Sean Middlebrough, faced charges of criminal damage and violent disorder in connection with the August 2024 action.

None of the eight individuals entered the factory during the incident.

The campaign specifically targeted Elbit Systems, ‘Israel’s’ largest non-government defense contractor, which manufactures military technology utilized by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). Palestine Action has consistently targeted the company’s UK operations amidst the ‘Israeli’ genocide on Gaza.

Prosecutors may seek a retrial on unresolved charges, prolonging the legal proceedings against the activists involved in campaigning against Britain’s direct role in arming ‘Israel’.
