  • Investigations have linked the Shirion Collective to campaigns targeting pro-Palestinian activists, including efforts to identify protesters and offer financial rewards for information.
  • Separate reports have examined how digital creators and ‘Israeli’ personnel use online platforms to promote narratives surrounding the war in Gaza.

Pro-‘Israel’ networks and online creators have increasingly used digital platforms to promote the ‘Israeli’ narrative and counter criticism of its military operations in Gaza, according to journalistic investigations and media reports.

A June 2024 investigation by The Guardian identified Florida-based technology entrepreneur Daniel Linden as a key figure behind the Shirion Collective, a pro-‘Israel’ network accused of targeting pro-Palestinian activists and spreading inflammatory content and conspiracy theories.

The investigation found that the group operated across several online platforms, where members discussed identifying and monitoring people they considered opponents.

Shirion has offered financial rewards for information identifying people involved in pro-Palestinian protests. According to The Guardian, the group advertised rewards ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars for information about its targets.

The network also claimed to use an artificial intelligence system to identify and track people. However, The Guardian reported that Shirion had not independently demonstrated some of the surveillance capabilities it claimed.

Linden’s background in technology and digital media has also drawn scrutiny. His work has included online forums and promotional material connected to subscription-based digital content and generative artificial intelligence tools.

Researchers have subsequently examined how digital creator networks and platforms associated with adult content can intersect with political advocacy and influence campaigns.

Separate media reports have also documented cases involving ‘Israeli’ personnel and creators sharing military-related content from Gaza through subscription-based and social media platforms. Such content has included material intended to portray soldiers in a favorable light, boost morale and reach international audiences.

The cases highlight the increasingly blurred lines between political advocacy, creator culture, surveillance and military messaging in the digital information environment surrounding Gaza.

They also demonstrate how online networks can be used both to amplify pro-‘Israel’ narratives and to target critics of ‘Israel’ and its military operations.
