Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran has not yet decided to resume talks with the United States, stressing that messages exchanged through Qatar and Pakistan do not constitute negotiations.
“Both Qatar and Pakistan continue to exchange messages and remain in contact with us, but that does not mean negotiations,” Araghchi told Iran’s ISNA news agency on Saturday.
“No decision has yet been made to resume talks with the United States,” he added.
Araghchi also said Iran is working on a temporary maritime route that could later become permanent.
“We are currently designing a temporary route that will later become a permanent route,” he said.
He added that once the route is determined, reopening the Strait of Hormuz would depend on the fulfillment of other conditions that the United States must meet.
The remarks come as tensions remain high around the strategic waterway, with commercial shipping significantly disrupted amid the ongoing US-Iran war.
